Vermont Holds On for Tight Victory Over North Shore

MONTPELIER, Vt. – Vermont earned their second consecutive comeback win and moved ahead in the series with the Navigators.

• North Shore starter Jack Zimmerman walked the bases loaded in the bottom of the 2nd, but the Navigators defense kept the contest scoreless.

• The Navs plated two runs in the 3rd courtesy of a Hunter Kingsbury RBI double and Anderson French reaching via a throwing error.

• Grant Hunter stole home in the 4th from a throwdown to second base to give North Shore a 3-0 advantage.

• Charlie Niehaus scored off a catcher throwing error by Aidan Sengenberger in the bottom of the 4th. Sam Winsett made it a one-run ballgame from a wild pitch.

• Sebastian Collender tied the game on a sac fly in the 6th. Elliot Miles drove home Sam Winsett with a single after the throw to first was mishandled.

• Mountaineers reliever Max Weber walked Aidan Sengenberger in the 8th, but, despite reaching third, he and Davis Budd kept the score 4-3 Vermont.

• Budd worked a 1-2-3 inning to earn his second save of the summer.

• The Mountaineers recorded six extra-base hits on Wednesday. Vermont is third in the NECBL with 87 to their name.

• Vermont stole five bases against the Navigators. They lead the NECBL in that category.

• Minckler's two triples against the SteepleCats gives him the most in the NECBL.

• Elliot Miles is third in the NECBL with 19 stolen bases. He notched two more bases against the SteepleCats

• Minckler is first in the league for the most stolen bases with 31. He stole two bags against North Adams on Wednesday.

• Minckler scored three runs against North Adams on July 15 to put him at a second-best 26 for the season. 

• Brendon Miller's eleven strikeouts against North Adams on July 12 is the most by a Vermont pitcher in a single outing. The Mountaineers' 19 total strikeouts is the most in a single game this season for the team.

• David Alvarez's two hits on July 8 puts him in third place in the NECBL with 35. His three RBI also put him tied for eight in the league with 21.
