David Alvarez hammered his first home run 360 feet to right field to put the Mountaineers up 1-0 after the first inning.

Vermont starter Nick Falla got out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the 3rd with back-to-back strikeouts to end the frame.

Anthony Belisario tied the contest after a pickoff attempt from Sebastian Collender to Matthew Minckler at second base went into the outfield. The 4th inning ended tied at one run apiece.

Casey Wensley gave Mystic their first lead of the game in the 5th inning when the Bryant product sent one over the right field wall off of Kody Collins.

Andrew Gendi relieved Collins, but Jamie Zee blasted a three-run shot into left field. Christian Butera scored another runner with an RBI single. Wensley, in a second at-bat of the inning, launched a bases-clearing three-run RBI double. It was a nine-run, 14-batter top of the 5th.

Elliot Miles notched a two-out double, and Matthew Jackson brought him around one batter later with an RBI single. Jackson himself scored off a throwing error to third base.

Jack Harley became the ninth Mystic batter to score a run after Bryce Detwiler reached on an error in the 7th. Jamie Zee collected another RBI, but both Detwiler and Wensley scored on another throwing error.

Bryce Rudisill tallied his second home run this season in the bottom of the 7th. Aidan Botti also scored after hitting a two-out double to cut the lead to 13-5.

Harley and Wensley hit back-to-back RBI singles to bring home three more runs in the 8th.

Matthew Jackson ripped his second triple of the season in the bottom of the 8th, but he was left stranded.

Harley added one final run in the top of the 9th with his fourth single of the night.

Tyler Jones was walked with the bases loaded to make the score 17-6 in the bottom of the 9th. Tristan Aasland closed out the contest for the Schooners.
