North Adams Snatches Win from Vermont in Walk-Off Fashion

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.  — The Mountaineers are walked off for the second time in five days on the road as the SteepleCats grabbed back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

• North Adams scored the first run in the bottom of the 1st inning with a Bobby Stang RBI single. The Dayton product was 0-for-11 in his last three appearances.

• Nick Mullen tallied his sixth double of the season in the following frame. Sam Bradley notched an RBI groundout to tie the contest. The inning ended with Vermont leaving the bases loaded.

• A fielder's choice and throwing error off the bat of Tony Woodie allowed Nelphie Lopez to score. Parker Camelo followed it up with an RBI single in the next at-bat to give SteepleCats a 3-1 advantage.

• Vermont tied the game in the 5th with back-to-back RBI from Alex Benevento and David Alvarez off North Adams reliever Liam Riordan. Benevento and Brayden Leonard also collected doubles in the inning.

• Richie Kerstetter came in for Sam Formus with the bases loaded. Brayden Leonard scored Elliot Miles off a fielder's choice to give Vermont a 4-3 lead.

• The Mountaineers pitching duo of Andrew Gendi and Davis Budd worked through a scoreless 8th inning by leaving the bases loaded for the SteepleCats.

• After loading the bases in the bottom of the 9th, an errant throw to home plate scored the winning two runs.

• The Mountaineers tallied three extra-base hits on Wednesday. Vermont leads the NECBL in the category with 45.

• Vermont stole four bases against North Adams. The contest pushes their total a league-high 58 on the season.

• Alex Benevento's double means the New Canaan, Conn. native leads the league with 8 extra-base knocks. His run scored also puts him in the league lead with 16 to his credit.

• Matthew Minckler is tied for the most stolen bases in the NECBL with 11 stolen bags.

• Nick Mullen hit a double in the 2nd inning against North Adams. He now leads the NECBL with six to his name.
