The Mountaineers bats got hot immediately with three runs on three hits. Bryce Rudisill and Nick Mullen notched RBI singles and Matthew Jackson sent home a runner on a triple.

Three runs scored in the 2nd inning as well for the Mountaineers. Alex Benevento knocked a two-run RBI single and the New Canaan, Conn. product reached home on a wild pitch from reliever Cole Yannaco.

North Shore responded with one run in the home half of the 2nd inning off a Maddix Simpson RBI single.

Nick Falla came in for starter Sam Franco after four full innings and six strikeouts.

The 5th inning is where Vermont found the scoring again. Matthew Minckler collected an RBI double, and then scored on a rundown pickoff attempt of Rex Hauser.

Vermont added two more in the following inning with JJ Parsons stealing home. Alex Benevento brought home Brayden Leonard with his second triple of the season. Bryce Rudisill delivered a sac fly to send the outfielder home.

Brayden Leonard stole a base against North Shore. He now joins Matthew Minckler at the top of the NECBL with six stolen bags. The Mountaineers' 24 total base steals leads the league.

Sam Franco tossed four full innings. His outing was the second-longest appearance by a Mountaineers pitcher.

Nicholas Falla, Hank Lippman and Davis Budd finished on the mound for Vermont. The trio struck out four batters and allowed no runs.
