David Carpenter Embracing Role as Astros’ “Enforcer”

Posted: 04-19-2012

HOUSTON -- When Astros manager Brad Mills convened a small group of players recently to be in charge of helping to enforce clubhouse rules and policy, he tabbed youngster David Carpenter to be a part of the group.

"The reason Carp was put into that little group was because moving forward, not only with the ballclub and this organization, we're going to need some younger guys who are going to need to be involved with things like that to gain experience and gain an understanding of how things evolve -- how rules or policies are set and what type of thought process goes into that," Mills said.

Carpenter made is MLB debut last season with the Astros and is a 2005 Mountaineer alumnus.
